One other to increase the speed of the computer with Windows XP, that is disabling Windows XP Logo appear when Windows booting, or called Splash Screen. Do the following steps to disable it.
1. Open Start and left click Run,
2. Type msconfig and press enter button
3. Click BOOT.INI
4. Check the /NOGUIBOOT checkbox and click OK
So when the computer restart, the Windows logo will not appear, so the booting progress will be faster
